STARTPOINT PRIZE 2013 @ BUCHAREST
During its eleven years of existence, StartPoint has evolved from a Czech national exhibition of graduate artworks to an extensive project that follows young artistic talents throughout Europe. This year the team of curators evaluated 35 art schools from 16 European countries in order to select the most interesting graduation projects, which were presented at the final exhibition. On the day of the exhibition’s opening, the international jury awarded the main prize and several honorary mentions.
Apart from the introduction of young emerging artists, the project aims to create a platform for encounters between up-and-coming artists and experts across countries, traditions and genres. A residency program is also facilitating this convergence for the award-winning finalists, along with a constantly growing number of European presentations. After the exhibitions at DOX Centre for Contemporary Art in Prague, Zwarte Zaal of KASK Gent, Arti et Amicitiae in Amsterdam and Hit Gallery in Bratislava, StartPoint Prize is pleased to show its curator's selection in Bucharest.
STARTPOINT has been supported by the Culture Program of the European Union and by the Ministry of Culture of Czech Republic. The residency of Tereza Fišerová is supported by the Czech Centres.
