Body World

The body is the surface which manifests the individual’s inner projections, but also the ground for ideological intrusions into private life. It can reflect on the one hand the acceptance of external influences or coercions, and on the other hand the revolt against them and the attempt to reinvent oneself by means of self-defamiliarization. In this way, the body speaks of the subject’s self-affirmation with or without struggle but also of the individual’s objectification through submission or self-analysis. All such negotiations and interactions that take place upon the surface of the body summarize the individual’s relation to the world.
