NEW FIGURATIVE
October 27 2011 - November 15 2011
Last decade painting has become a significant presence on the international art scene. Synchronizing the wave of interest represented by the new figurative, several romanian artists, especially young graduates, have stated their interest in this
direction, becoming relevant presences in the internal and international visual space. New Figurative exhibition tries to tie the approaches of artists coming from school of Bucharest ( or dialogue with it), in their stylistic diversity, without exhausting a direction attended by an increasingly number of painters.

THE OTHER BODY
May 4 2011 - May 24 2011
We always need a reference to define the realities that surround us. From everlasting we operate with dualism, stereotypes, labels: culture vs. nature, rational vs. irrational, right vs. wrong, normal vs. abnormal, mind vs. body etc.
We permanently divide the world into us and the others on grounds of cognitive comfort. We divide it, but we also create hierarchies, classifications and assessments with direct and indirect consequences on us, but especially on the others.
The other, other -are among the most interesting and generous concepts in human social science, constantly linked to the identity concept in definitions and discussions.
Artists: 2 Meta, George Anghelescu, Maria Bordeanu, Daniel Brici, Cătălin Burcea, Traian Boldea, Irina Broboană, Francisc Chiuariu, Larisa David, Darie Dup, Daniel Djamo, Carmen Dobre, Loredana Dragne, Iosif Kiraly, Petru Lucaci, Flavia Lupu, Bogdan Mateiaș, Romana Mateiaș, Valeriu Mladin, Marina Oprea, Christian Paraschiv, Vlad Petri, Dan Raul Pintea, Alexandru Rădvan, Bogdan Rață, Marilena Preda Sânc, Petra Sitaru, Albert Sofian, Bogdan Teodorescu, Roman Tolici, Roxana Trestioreanu, Diana Tropoe, Mihai Zgondoiu

Body under surveillance
March 9 2011 - April 9 2011
Body under Surveillance represents the 2010 stage of a research project developed with the aid of the Bucharest University of Arts and entitled The Body as a Contemporary Cultural Project. Theoretical Challenges, Artists’ Reactions (corpuri-perspectivecontemporane.blogspot.com).
The project undertakes an interdisciplinary dialogue on the theme of the body in contemporary times. Now more than ever, the postmodern, global, electronic and digitized society applies permanent control to individual bodies. The current society focuses on surveillance and visibility, while instruments such as technocentrism, dread of illness or terrorism, desire for beauty, immortality or power are deployed in order to maximize the control of the body.
Body under Surveillance intends the renewal of the contemporary visual art environment through information exchanges in a series of theory workshops and interdisciplinary events. Moreover, this exhibition relates the works of established Romanian artists to those produced by young artists working on the theme of the body.
